Who it's for

Built for serious lash artists.

Mentoring is for licensed beauty professionals who want to either start a lash business the right way or take an existing one to a higher standard. We’re not a quick certification. We teach the full craft — mapping, isolation, adhesive selection, retention diagnosis, client experience, retention pricing, and how to actually build the kind of clientele that comes back for years.

You should consider mentoring if: you’re newly licensed and want serious technique training, you’ve been doing lashes for a while and want to fix retention or damage problems, you’re trying to scale beyond yourself, or you want the SDL standards in your own studio.

Three formats

Pick the depth that fits.

Three ways in, scaling from a one-time call up to a fully ongoing monthly engagement. Most clients start with a call to confirm we’re a fit, then choose a deeper format from there.

  • 1-on-1 Call

    $99 · 60 minutes · video or phone

The starting point. A focused call to address your specific questions — whether it’s retention diagnosis, mapping critique, business strategy, or pricing. Best for: artists who already have a setup but need targeted help on one or two issues.

  • In-Person Session

    $299 · 3 hours · Bay Park studio

Hands-on training at our Bay Park flagship. Live demonstrations on a real client (yours or a model), technique correction, equipment + product walk-through. Best for: artists who learn by watching and doing.

  • Monthly Mentorship

    $1,500/mo · ongoing · hybrid

Continuous coaching for artists who want sustained guidance over months — weekly check-ins, technique reviews, business + marketing support, and direct access to Jamie and senior team. Best for: artists building a serious practice or launching their own studio.

What we cover

The full playbook.

Technique: custom mapping, isolation, adhesive selection, retention diagnosis, damage prevention, removal protocols, fill efficiency, hybrid + volume + mega technique.

Business: pricing structure, fill cadence economics, no-show + cancellation policies, deposit collection, client retention, building tier ladders, when to hire and how.

Brand + marketing: what attracts the clients you actually want, building a brand around standards rather than promotions, sustainable Instagram + Yelp strategy, the long-term reputation game.

Operations: studio setup recommendations, supplier relationships, sterilization + safety, software (Mangomint), team culture if you scale.

Why us

Taught by the people who built SDL.

Mentoring is led by Jamie Justo — SDL founder, 14 years in the chair, founder of Giusto Beauty (the clean lifting chemistry brand we use). She built the studio, trained the team, developed the chemistry, and still does the work. Senior team members co-lead in-person sessions when relevant.

You’re not paying for theory. You’re paying for everything we learned the hard way over fourteen years — condensed and given to you directly.

Questions you'll probably have

FAQ

Do I need to be a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist?

Yes. California requires a license to perform lash extensions on paying clients. We’ll mentor anyone who’s licensed (or in the licensure process), but we won’t teach unlicensed practice.

What's the difference between mentoring and a lash certification course?

Lash certifications are typically 1–2 day classes that give you the basic technique to start working. Mentoring is the layer above that — how to actually build a sustainable lash business with the SDL-level standards. We don’t replace certification; we build on it.

Can I bring a model or client for the in-person session?

Yes — we encourage it. Practicing on a real face under live supervision is the fastest way to fix technique issues. If you don’t have someone to bring, we can arrange a model with notice.

Where do in-person sessions happen?

Our Bay Park flagship at 3050 ½ Clairemont Dr. We can host you in the same space we trained our own team in.

Can mentoring be done remote-only?

The 1-on-1 Call is fully remote (video or phone). The Monthly Mentorship is hybrid — weekly remote check-ins with optional in-person sessions when needed. The In-Person Session is … in person.

Can I just hire SDL to consult on my business directly?

Yes — that’s essentially what the Monthly Mentorship is. For larger consulting engagements (multi-location buildouts, team training, brand work), email hello@sdlashes.com with details.
